Our Return to Rustic Roots
Mary Ellen Goulet
Mary Ellen Goulet's reflections are a collection of
articles which she wrote when she was a columnist in Black Hills, South
Dakota and of personal observations dating from her birth and early
childhood in Calumet Location near Ely, Minnesota. Photos from the
early years document the type of life she describes in the heyday of
the iron mining boom in northeastern Minnesota.
In May of 1998, she and her husband Bob moved to the
Black Hills. They have chosen to live "off the grid" - using energy
from the sun and water from the skies. The book is both an historical
account and a memoir. It is also a good read for anyone who is
contemplating an adventure away from the humdrum existence of a city
center.
